Our one-day excursion begins in the morning from Marrakech. We will drive south through the Haouz plains, leaving the city behind as the landscape transforms into a lush mosaic of red earth, olive groves, and stone houses scattered along the hills. The air becomes cooler and fresher as we ascend into the foothills of the Atlas Mountains.
Argan Oil Cooperative Visit
Along the way, we may stop at a women’s argan oil cooperative. Here, you’ll discover how argan oil is traditionally made by hand, learn about its various uses in cooking and cosmetics, and taste a few samples. These cooperatives play a vital role in supporting and empowering rural women.
As we continue, we’ll pass by small Berber villages with mud-brick houses seamlessly blending into the mountainsides. If you wish, we can visit a local Berber family, enjoy a cup of traditional mint tea, and learn about their daily life in the mountains.
Setti Fatma Village & the Seven Waterfalls
Deeper into the valley lies the charming village of Setti Fatma, surrounded by towering cliffs and fruit orchards. This village serves as the gateway to the famous Seven Waterfalls, a highlight of the valley.
With the guidance of a local mountain guide, we will hike along rocky trails to reach the waterfalls. The first waterfall is easily accessible, while more adventurous travelers can continue uphill to the higher falls. The hike is moderate and suitable for most visitors—sturdy walking shoes are recommended. Along the way, enjoy stunning valley views accompanied by the soothing sounds of flowing water and birdsong.
For those preferring a more relaxed pace, Setti Fatma is a lovely place to unwind, sip tea by the river, and explore the local shops.
Lunch by the River
After the hike, we will enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch at a riverside restaurant. Many restaurants in the valley place tables right along the shallow river, allowing you to dip your feet in the cool water while dining. You can expect classic Moroccan dishes such as vegetable tagine, grilled meats, fresh bread, and seasonal fruits, all served with refreshing mint tea. The peaceful river setting makes this one of the most relaxing parts of the day.
Return to Marrakech
In the late afternoon, we will drive back to Marrakech through picturesque hills and valleys. You will be dropped off at your hotel or riad, carrying a deeper appreciation for Morocco’s mountain landscapes and the simple life of its rural communities.
