The Cultural Tour “The Imperial Cities” is a 10-day/9-night journey through the historic cities of
Morocco. Starting from Casablanca, the tour covers Rabat, Meknes, Volubilis, Fez, Merzouga, and
Marrakech. This tour offers a unique opportunity to explore the diverse culture, architecture, and
landscapes of Morocco.

THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TRIP

Day 1 | Casablanca 18-02-25
Arrival at Casablanca Mohammed V airport, reception, assistance, transfer and installation at the
hotel.

Day 2 | Casablanca – Rabat (approx. 100 km) 19-02-25
Breakfast at the hotel. Casablanca (Casa la Blanche), made legendary by the cult film in 1942, is
today the economic and industrial capital and the first port of Morocco. In the morning, visit the
Hassan II Mosque, on the corniche on the seafront, a true symbol of the city with its 200 m high
minaret. It is the second tallest mosque in the world after that of Mecca. We then leave for Rabat,
one of the imperial cities and the royal, political and administrative capital. After lunch, visit the
main monuments The Hassan Tower, the Mohammed V Mausoleum, the Kasbah of the Oudayas,
the Royal Palace, the Necropolis of Chellah.

Day 3 | Rabat – Meknes – Volubilis – Fez (approx. 240 km) 20-02-25
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure towards Meknes, imperial city renowned for its Bab El Mansour
gate considered one of the most beautiful in Morocco. Visit of the city, the old granaries and the
stables of Moulay Ismail. Lunch and, in the early afternoon, we drive to Moulay Idriss, holy city
on the mountainside, which houses the tomb of Idriss 1st, founder of the first Arab dynasty that
reigned in Morocco. Then direction Volubilis, the most important ancient site of Morocco,
classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, former capital of the Roman province of Africa
“Mauretania Tingitana”, founded in the third century BC; we visit the Roman remains – Arc de
Triomphe, Capitol, House of Bacchus. Continue to Fez in the late afternoon.

Day 4 | Fès (Sightseeing) 21-02-25
After a leisurely breakfast, you can explore the fascinating city of Fez on a sightseeing tour. You
will drive to the “Castle of the South”, where you will have an unforgettable panoramic view of
the old town. Fez is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Through the wonderfully decorated gate “Bab
Boujelou” you enter the best-preserved old town district in Morocco and can visit the Koranic
school “Bou Inania”, the tomb of Moulay Idriss, and the Kairouine mosque, as well as the oldest
university in the world. You will see the colorful souks, the trader’s and craftsmen’s alleys of
coppersmiths, tanners, tailors, chasers, and potters. At the end of the tour, you can enjoy a fresh
mint tea, Moroccan style, in an authentic café.

Day 5 | Fez – Ifran – Merzouga Erg chebbi (approx. 465 km) 22-02-25
After breakfast, you will leave oriental Fez and head south. Passing Ifran, the ski resort and the
“Switzerland” of Morocco, you will continue through the picturesque Middle Atlas with its cedar
forests. A short walk in the area is possible today. With a little luck, you will meet some Barbary
macaques in their mustard yellow fur, which are not shy at all and beg for some peanuts.
Continue your journey via the apple town of Midelt. Then you will drive through the Ziz Gorges,
a bizarre gorge with oases and date palms. You will drive via the oasis town of Erfoud to Merzouga.
The small desert oasis is surrounded by the red-golden dunes of the Erg Chebbi. Here you can
take a short break. Afterward, you will ride on a dromedary into the depths of the Sahara to the
desert camp. On a high dune, you will enjoy the enchanting sunset.

Day 6 | Merzouga – Rissani – Tinghir – Dades (approx. 275 km) 23-02-25
If you want to experience the magic moment of a sunrise today, you have to get up early. After
breakfast in the open air in the mild morning sun, you can choose to ride back to Merzouga on a
dromedary or go by off-road vehicle. From Merzouga, you will pass through the former capital of
the Tafilalt, Rissani. Finally, you will reach Tinghir, where the Todra Valley begins. You will drive
up to the impressive Todra Gorge.

Day 7 | Dades – Valley of the roses – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech (approx. 335 km)
Today’s route follows one of the most scenic routes in Morocco. It goes on the road of 1000
Kasbahs. Countless kasbahs made of clay, mountains, and dry plains alternate. Valleys and green
oases, palm groves, and villages of red-brown earth make up the charm of the region. Continuing
goes along the Dadès river. The road is lined with beautiful oasis villages, date palms, and
numerous kasbahs. It goes. through the oasis “El-Kalâa-M’Gouna” in the Rose Valley and
continues on the famous “Road of 1000 Kasbahs”. Then you will drive via Ouarzazate and the
village of Ait Ben Haddou, where you can visit one of the most magnificent Kasbahs in Morocco.
With some breaks at the most beautiful viewpoints, you will reach Marrakech, the “Pearl of the
South” in the afternoon. The remaining time you arrange yourself.

Day 8 | Marrakech (Sightseeing) 25-02-25
After breakfast, you will have the opportunity to explore the main sights of the medina with a
city guide: The Koutubia Mosque, the huge square “Jemaa el Fna”, the colorful, lively souks with
their oriental scents, and the “Bab Agnaou”, the most beautiful gate of Marrakech, as well as the
Bahia Palace. The rest of the afternoon is yours. You can visit the famous gardens on your own
or relax in a traditional hammam. Afterward, you can enjoy your impressions in a typical
Moroccan restaurant in the medina.

Day 9 | Marrakech –Casablanca 26-02-25
Transition from Marrakech’s markets to Casablanca’s coastal charm. Explore Marrakech’s
medinas before diving into Casablanca’s modernity. Indulge in Moroccan cuisine and cultural
delights. An enriching blend of tradition and modern allure awaits.

Day 10 | Casablanca Airport Departure 27-02-25 END OF TRIP
If you do not wish to extend your trip, your driver will take you to the airport.

Ethics and behavior in the desert
The desert is a fragile environment like all wild places. During our visit, let us do everything to
protect it from human nuisance. All waste must be either burned (always have a lighter on you)
or taken away. Water is precious, let’s use it sparingly. Let’s not pick the plants!
